The team of November Music have been busy putting this year’s festival together with an eclectic mix of top-notch ensembles, jazz & world pioneers, sound installations, and interdisciplinary concerts. New Music Conference is honoured to be part of their live setting on Friday 12 November!
After last year’s – quite successful – online edition of New Music Conference, we look forward to welcoming you in person again at the Verkadefabriek in ‘s-Hertogenbosch: composers, performers, music publishers, booking agents, label representatives and others working in New Music and all of its related genres.
New Music Conference will kick off with two inquisitive minds who will catch up for the first time in 16 years and who will reflect on composing, sound, art and life itself: Rebecca Saunders, November Music composer-in-focus, and Michel van der Aa, who is present at this year’s festival with his spectacular virtual reality installation Eight. During the conference, forward thinking speakers working in the arts – and with the arts – will discuss a variety of topics. One example: what does it mean to be assigned as the official composer of a city? Read more
During New Music Conference, Christenhusz hosts four talks with composers and sound artists who work around the notion of ‘natureculture’ entanglements: Slovenian installation artist Saša Spačal, Dutch ‘countryside composer’ Piet-Jan van Rossum, Dutch sound artist Ronald van der Meijs, and Brazilian sound artist Vivian Caccuri. Dutch Composers NOW, the collective propaganda agency for New Music in the Netherlands, wants to generate as much airplay as possible for composers and performers in a broad field. To this end, it launched dedicated, composer-driven platform New Music NOW in 2021. Read more
