Keynote interview: Micha Hamel
The Bosch Requiem, commissioned by November Music, always surprises. Anno 2024, however, features a Requiem beyond our imagination. It takes the form of an installation, created by composer Micha Hamel and artist Jonas Staal (winner Prix de Rome 2023). Earth Workers Requiem/Jubilate commemorates (Requiem) and celebrates (Jubilate) our collective history and future as earth workers at a critical time for our current ecosystem. At New Music Conference, Micha Hamel talks about the road to and the final creation of this work. ‘Jonas and I ‘are one’ in this project,’ he already declared in a preliminary email exchange. A conversation about deep past and deep future and the place of us, fossils in the making, in it all.
