Workshop: strategies for DIYers in New Music
Not everyone in the music industry works for a large organisation. Many of us juggle multiple roles to get our work heard and bring our projects to life. We do everything ourselves, from fundraising, marketing, and bookings to recordings and releases—all on top of composing and performing. The good news is, you’re not alone. Many other composers and musicians have walked this path and are right there with you.
At New Music Conference, expert by experience composer and concert producer Matthew Whiteside invites you to exchange that knowledge together. As a self-releasing composer, Matthew has compiled his knowledge into The Guidebook to Self-Releasing Your Music. In this book, he covers recording and post-production but also answers questions such as:
- How do you choose the best people to work with?
- How does that work, budgeting and funding?
- How do you go about it, PR, marketing, branding and sync?
- Where are the pitfalls in today’s music industry?
Are you a DIYer in New Music? Share your experiences, challenges, frustrations, and strategies. Meet your peers, expand your network, and help build a stronger, more relevant, and fair future for our industry. Join us at New Music Conference and get involved!
