New Music Conference
11 November 2022
The newly composed music took center stage during the fourth edition of New Music Conference, which took place Friday 11 November in five halls at the Verkadefabriek in ‘s-Hertogenbosch. On the initiative of Buma and the November Music festival, more than 180 composers, programmers, music publishers and other professionals from the Netherlands and abroad came together to reflect on current developments in New Music.
While the carnival period was heralded in the center of ‘s-Hertogenbosch, the professionals celebrated the Dutch talent of newly composed music. In 2021, New Music Conference – a permanent part of the November Music festival program – was able to take place wonderfully in between the lockdowns. This time there was no hesitation by the organization or the public; the conference was already fully booked shortly after the opening. From the start, an interview with composers Martijn Padding and Anne-Maartje Lemereis, to the closing New Composers Pitch, the atmosphere was positive and comradely. Blurring boundaries and new horizons for the composer were explored in various panel discussions.
