Kick-off working group Grootrecht led by fairPACCT in collaboration with Nieuw Geneco

FairPACCT focuses on implementing fair pay and fair practice by organising ‘chain tables’ in which all stakeholders from a particular sub-sector are represented. FairPACCT is part of Platform Arbeidsmarkt Culturele en Creatieve Toekomst (Platform ACCT), which focuses on creating better working conditions and increasing the earning capacity of all workers in the cultural and creative sector.
During New Music Conference, fairPACCT will present, under the auspices of the Jazz/World/Contemporary Composers & Musicians chain table and on the initiative of Nieuw Geneco, a new working group on the theme of Grootrecht. Nieuw Geneco has recently developed standard agreements for composition commissions in opera, music theatre, musicals, dance and ballet where Grootrecht applies.
The working group will test these already developed model contracts in a broad consultation, further substantiate them, develop them further and make them accessible. This is an important step within a complex legal area in which knowledge of the legal frameworks and clear model contracts can ensure a strong negotiating position and fair application of grand rights in composition commissions.
Join and discuss how this approach can assist composers and clients with the often enormous amount of paperwork and sometimes difficult negotiations that a composition commission entails. The draft model contracts will also be explained during this session and can be found in advance at nieuwgeneco.nl.
This working session will be led by Esther Gottschalk (director of Nieuw Geneco), Noud van de Rhee (programme manager of fairPACCT) and Grootrecht specialist Willem Jan Keizer (Musiconnect), supported by the other working group members: composers Bob Zimmerman, Renske Vrolijk and Jan-Peter de Graaff. They look forward to introducing you to this fascinating topic!
